And like that, we have a toddler. Over the past three months Mia has begun walking (happened just a week or two after one year) and talking up a storm. We have a regular little goofy person in our house now (in addition to the two big ones). She’s still loving daycare, splash parks, playgrounds, her cats, and has developed an affinity for a nice flaky croissant. We got away for a nice family vacation to Orcas Island with grandma and grandpa, which I need to write about. My sister was able to visit, we all got through a week of swim lessons, she dunked in a couple of rivers, we went to Bend, picked berries from roadside bushes a number of times, started biking to school, visited the zoo, got her first Hot Wheels (I might be enjoying this more than her). It’s amazing to see how much a human can develop in such a short period; I have to think 12-15 months is when they progress the most in terms of being a functional human. She’s starting to show some opinion, but for the most part is “always happy” to quote her teacher.
