Morning routines. We all have them. If you don’t, you should.

I last wrote on this subject in 2007. Things are similar, but with another five years under my belt, I think I’ve got this pretty nicely refined.

Wake up.

Drink remaining water from glass I filled before bed.

Check e-mail/Facebook/message boards (NOW PRODUCE CONTENT).

Brush teeth.

Wash face (no shower as I workout nearly every night and shower just before bed).

Check weather.

Get dressed (weather dependent, but typically jeans and a tee).

Ride or drive (weather dependent, but ride 75% of the time).

Unpack backpack.

Clean dishes that are already soaking in the sink from previous day.

Start brewing a coffee (Chemex). I get on tea kicks now and then, but I’ve begun to enjoy the finer things in coffee and the science behind it so that’s been getting the nod as of late.

Fill water bottle (Nalgene).

Eat breakfast (usually oatmeal, yogurt, and a piece of fruit).

Check e-mail/Facebook/message boards.

Drink glass of Superfood once coffee and breakfast are done.

Start working.

Nothing special, but it’s my everyday. I start off with a lot of liquid and quality ingredients in me. If you’re skimping on either, I implore you to begin drinking a glass of water when you wake up to get things moving, and fill your body with the nutrients it’s lacking after a night of sleep. It will do you good. You’ve heard it a million times before, but if you’re not going to care about what you put into your body, it’s not going to care what you get out of it.

What’s your routine? Do you have one? If not, why not? Do you find yourself energized all day without the addition of caffeine or other pick-me-ups?

Note: This was written as soon as I awoke, but our internet was out, hence the 2PM posting time.
