Simply put, excellent. Good acting (on Jamie Foxx’s part), a great story, and great music all rolled together in one makes for an entertaining movie to say the least. The movie guides you through the struggles in Ray’s life, from his childhood until about 1970, when the struggles seemingly went away. The only downside is the jumpiness of the movie, you’re constantly struggling to figure out this new scene fits in to the scheme of things. I really don’t want to spoil anything, which would be easy to do in a review about this type of movie so I’ll end the one early. If you enjoy music, history, or good movies in general, this is a film you’ll want to see.

8.9/10 – great story, could have used better directing
