Bored after work on a Friday, Jessica and I frantically search for stuff to do. At 6:45pm we spot a Duran Duran concert not too far from us starting at 8. It’s on. She picks me up, we deal with a complete moron at Tower Records to get our tickets, sit in a couple miles of bumper to bumper traffic, park, and arrive around 8:15. BLING ON! The opening band sucked, it was some old wannabe Gwen Stefani chick dancing around like her legs were made of concrete (they didn’t move). Then…. Duran f’ing Duran. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I’d witness Ordinary World, Notorious, Come Undone, Hungry Like the Wolf, Rio, Girls on Film, Wild Boys, and many more live and in the flesh. We were easily 5-10 years younger than everyone else, but it was great to get a glimpse of a time that we missed out on by just a few years. My conclusions? The 80s were better than the 90s and old bands really know how to rock. Damn, great time.
