Ok so I just “levelled up” in the geek level of my gaming habits. I just bought in-game money using real money. If you don’t get it, trust me, it is a whole new level of loser. Anyway, the point of this is to show off my awesome math skills.

  • I just bought what would have taken me 200 hours for $100.
  • 200 x what I make per hour (a bit more than $30, but we’ll approximate for ease of understand) = $6000. It would have cost me $6000 of my time to get this amount of money in-game.
  • $6000/$100 = 60. I make 60x more than whoever put the time in to getting this money.
  • My salary / 60 = $1k/yr (again, approximating, I make more than $60k/yr :smiley:).

    Some kid in China is playing a freaking game (full-time job) in a sweat shop for my benefit to make $1k/yr. That is awful, but hell, I just saved so much time and in my mind just [i]made[/i] $5900

What is awesome is that this is the sort of thing I couldn’t have done if I had a girlfriend… Man how my world has opened up in ways I never thought possible over the past few months. Thanks Jessica! 😉 What is funny is she’ll still probably give me shit for doing this… lol…
