Michael Moore’s first film, and it shows. Certainly not bad for a first outing, but his skill at persuasion and such has come a long way in the past two decades. Not to mention, he’s put on a lot of weight.

The is the story of his home town, Flint, Michigan, and the hard times beset upon it when GM decided to send jobs to Mexico. Moore tries and tries to speak with then-CEO Roger Smith regarding the issue, but is shut out for several years until he finally sneaks up close for some priceless dialogue.

I understand that Moore did have some good points, but his subject matter was a tough one. Sure, GM could have done the nice thing and kept those workers, but some of the interviewees had it right; we live in a capitalistic society. It is eat or be eaten. While I don’t agree with sending the jobs to another country, I certainly understand sending them elsehwre in the US to reduce costs.

7.0/10 – my dvr is my friend
