So just a quick update on life…

Work
Been functioning as my boss, but still responsible for my usual work. Yeah, I’m pretty much losing my mind, but it never hurts to figure out how to manage people. I’ve got to interview some folks tomorrow; that I don’t know about. Now if only I could pull the salary of the two jobs I’m doing…

Cars
Got some race seats (Sparco Evo) for the Civic, but they’ve just been sitting around waiting on me to get to the fabricator. I’m not really looking forward to that bill.

Got some new tires on the back of the S2000; hydroplaning at 50mph was not fun. Bridgestone RE750s… They stick like whoa and have far less road noise than the Kumho MXs that were on there before. Handling is a bit weird as I didn’t replace my front tires as well; It is soft until the limit then it kind of bites. I can’t drift these suckers quite as well, either.

Spent Saturday at Summit crewing for the same team as last year in the 12-hour. Managed to fuel the car and put new front tires on it in 60 seconds. Unfortunately, our day was cut short by a shitty Miata driver (90% of them are) who tapped us in the rear twice, knocked our radiator out, which resulted in a cracked block or blown headgasket. The team owners are discussing plans of an old 911 w/ a 993T drivetrain for next year.

Bike
Completed the MSF. Learned a ton during the weekend, but 15-hours in the 90 degree sun is a lot.

I have over 500 miles under my belt, but haven’t vbeen able to ride much this past week due to the rain. Ick! All my gear arrived as well. I’m far more protected with my new boots, but they also reduce my feel on the shifter. My bag turned out to kind of be a pooper; for $80 I expected a pretty well put together piece, but it is flimsy and requires a PhD to operate.

Put some new front pads on it (didn’t know what I was doing, still only took 20 minutes). EBC HH, which bite like whoa. I’m not sure the proper bedding procedure and I assume that is why they’re squealing. The rear looked much more difficult so I think I’ll hold off on that until I take the rear wheel in for a new tire, which I should get on soon. BURN VISA!

Getting in shape
Have continued to eat well, but am still hovering in the high 170s. My times for my usual run have dropped several minutes, which is pretty awesome. I’d like to train for a race, but my potential training partner complains about not having time to train once school starts. WEAK!

Party Time
The whole going out thing has become a bit jaded. I’ve only gone out out maybe one night in the past month. That night left a bitter taste in my mouth as I was stupid enough to let a friend use my tab, which resulted in my three drinks costing me $80. I’m glad his girlfriend drank well, though!

Games
Holy crap I’ve been slacking. Someone told me it was a good thing that I was growing up… F that person 😉 I bought FIFA World Cup 2006 and have been pretty addicted to it when I get spare time, but that is rare. I was actually in the 87th minute of the World Cup Final with USA yesterday, but the power went out, which caused me to lose my entire progress for the day (about 8 games). What am I actually saving when it asks me to overwrite two things at the end of each game? Argh! Anyway, pretty awesome game.

Movies
No time for reviews so you get this:

Munich: Jumped around a lot, but overall a decent movie. You know I loved me some true stories. 7.9/10

Walk the Line: Pretty decent story, and even better singing from Joaquin and Reese. Again, I love me a real story. 8.2/10

Sinbad Collection: Three movies using old-school effects. First one was pretty good, second was decent as well, but I can’t get through the third; the acting is awful. 7.2/10 except for the last, which gets a 3.0/10

Life is Beautiful: I have seen this one before, but I bought it so I had to watch it again before I could file it alphabetically in my library. One of my favorite movies of all time. 9.4/10

Cars: I love cars, and I love Pixar, but this movie didn’t really do much for me. Sure, it was cute, but it lacked enough adult overtones that made previous animated films great for all ages. 6.8/10

On my plate are: Transporter, Batman Begins, Natural Born Killers, Nacho Libre, The World’s Fastest Indian, The Devil’s Rejects, and Pirates of the Carribbean 2.

TV
I’m really missing Lost, but Rescue Me has taken it place for the time being. Pretty hilarious show; you ought to watch it.

Rain
What the hell is this? Roads are washed out, flooded houses everywhere, and no real sign of letting up. I want to ride, damnit!

Books
Finished up Bill Maher’s “New Rules,” which turned out to be really awesome. It was a quick read and quite hilarious. Next up will be a combination of the following: Great Compression for Digital Video; Agile Software Development With Scrum; The Five People You Meet in Heaven; Into Thin Air. I think I’ll pound “Five People” out real quickly, then drudge through the software book, keep “Thin Air” in my backpack, and then rock out “Compression.” Ungh! I hate work reading!

To Buy
No matter how much I buy, it never seems like the list gets any shorter: Tires for motorcycle, crank and bottom bracket for mountain bike, tickets for events in Japan, fabrication time for car seats (not cheap)… Yay for $1500 I don’t really want to spend. I also want to buy a Kayak, but I don’t think they’re cheap. Maybe I just need to sell the S to get something cheaper and more practical? WRX? Forester? Civic Si? RSX? Fit? TC? GTI? Integra?

Other
I really wish I had more time to rant, but I haven’t even had enough time to allow my brain to think about things that piss me off. Hrmph…
