Driving in this morning, my audio CD of Common Sense errored out. Faced with music CDs I am bored with (my car doesn’t play burnt discs and I haven’t bought a CD in a month or two), NPR, or garbage talk radio, I chose NPR.

The topic being discussed was gun control. On the segment was someone from the Brady Center so it was clearly an anti-gun program. What they were talking about was the gun lobbyists desire to have guns permitted in the workplace and schools. They aren’t arguing that it’ll do anything good (from what I’ve read), but it will not infringe on that stale and dingy old document that everyone assumes cannot be altered, The Constitution [is that capitalized?].

I personally think gun lobbyists are a bunch of aging males that watched the Rambo Trilogy a few too many times in the early 80s; a bunch of yahoos. Sure, that piece of paper says you can own a gun, and that’s fine and dandy if you have legitimate (read: sporting) uses for it. Note: People are not game. Does it not make them look like complete asshats that they think it’s a good idea to allow guns in workplaces and schools? I don’t even think I need to go there other than to agree that we should try it… For a week… Then when every mean manager or teacher is dead, we repeal the new rules and take them back out.

Seriously, what good could come from this effort? Edumacate me!

Oooh another thing I found interesting. Gun lobbyists didn’t make up the “No Gun Left Behind” title; the Brady Center did… Makes me question the above document and how many anti-gun spins were put on it. So yes, take the link above with a grain of salt; it was written by a very one-sided group.
