Two more stories to add to the recent collection…
1) My parents decided to give Propane Taxi a shot. They call up on Saturday, and the guy says they will be out on Wednesday for they should leave their tank on the front porch then. On Sunday, they arrive home to a note on the door saying soemthing to the effect of “Propane Taxi was here, and we’ve replaced your tank.” Now, the problem here is that the tank for replacement was in the garage… Hrmm… My Dad ventures back to the grill, which had already had a full tank on it, and sure enough, it had been replaced! So now they have to deal with getting another tank… The guy thought he was doing them a favor, but that sure did backfire.
2) We have a HUGE tree in our yard. During the heavy winds this past weekend, a giant branch fell off. When I say giant, I mean the size of a typical tree. It was rotted, and so large that there was nothing I could do about it. Luckily, we had just recently decided to start parking the cars on the opposite side of the driveway. Had this happened two weeks earlier, Caitlin’s car would have been wrecked. Anyway, so BJ calls up our rental agency and they say someone will be out there within half an hour. Two hours later, two hispanic guys in “going out clothes” show up in a small pick up truck with no tools. They ask to borrow my circular saw… Great… So I end up cutting up the smaller pieces of the tree and helping them move it out of the way. Great job, guys! The next morning, a real clean-up crew arrives. While I’m at work, they do their job and all is happy. When Caitlin arrives home from work, she notices a geyser in the back yard. Apparently they used our hose to spray away dirt from the rotting tree limb and never turned it off. The result? A giant hole in our hose and who knows how much water lost…
One of these days, someone will do something right.
