Finally, the first case in which the RIAA is suing an individual over copyright infringement via filesharing. I don’t think they’ll win as they really have no way of proving she was the one sitting at the computer, but it’ll be interesting to watch this go on anyway.
Funny…
The industry in this case is only suing over 25 songs, with damages up to $150,000 per violation, because it doesn’t want to exact too big of financial penalties by going for all 1,700, testified Jennifer Pariser, Sony BMG’s anti-piracy chief. “The damages would be substantial,” she said. “We have no intent in pursing cases like that.”
Because earlier in the article…
Defendant Jammie Thomas, a 30-year-old single mother of two who works at a nearby Indian reservation.
Basically “we don’t want to really ruin her life, we just want to really ruin it.”
And later in the article: One juror was excused who said she had used a peer-to-peer site to download copyrighted music. OMG they should have locked her up on the spot! I hope, at the very least, that they got her name.
Anyway, I read a lot of articles online and I have thoughts on many of them. I hope to make more posts such as this in the future… As well as finish my Vegas and Japan trips ![]()

Apparently I’m not the only one who thinks this is retarded.
