At 192,000 miles on the chassis, the Civic just keeps getting better. I did quite a few things to her this year… Added a camber kit up front, replaced balljoints and major bushings, new spark plugs/wires, mounted race seats and harnesses, and finally just gave her the best washing she’s ever had in preparation for the billionth annual car show at JMU. I spent all of last week washing, compounding, waxing, shining, and vacuuming her. The result? Cleaner than the day I bought it.

To celebrate, and to give Caitlin some wheels for her Corolla, I upgraded my older Civic Si wheels with some Rota Group Ns, a copy of some bling bling Mugen RNRs. They weigh next to nothing, were cheap, and I think they look nice… You can make your own call.

<div style=”text-align: center;”><img >=”” src=”http://iammike.org/gallery/?displaypic=my_rides%2Fcivic%2Fimg4213fq3.jpg&non_lr=”/>

Yes, that is the car on a dyno. After 120k miles, many of them on track, and some crappy mods (intake and crap exhaust), she made 123hp and 118lb/ft of torque to the wheels. Figure 15% parasitic loss through the drivetrain, and you get 145hp and 138lb/ft of torque. An increase of 3hp and 6lb/ft over stock! Yay! She’s healthier than I thought!

That said, my friend in a Miata is able to keep up with me on straights… He has a good amount less power so that means my gearing sucks, and it does; the motor is out of the economy model Integra. Solution? Get a transmission out of the sport model!

That’s really all I’ve got for now. I did five track events this season… Would have liked to have done more, but I’m comfortable with that number given the fact that I really didn’t do any last year.

Next year, I hope to make it to some tracks a bit further from home… VIR and Summit are great, but they’re all I know.
