From the founder of Craigslist, comes a new (to me) site based on charitable donations. Want to make an impact at a place of your choosing? Tired of donating to funds where you have no idea what the money is actually being used for? DonorsChoose.org saves the day.

The site lists the reason the money is needed, the poverty level of the requesting school, the number of students impacted by your donation, and a extra slew of information to help you figure out where you want your donation to go.

It’s a pretty neat idea, but at the same time a bit depressing that teachers are having to use a tool such as this for BOOKS when we’re throwing away 200+ million dollars per day to fight a war halfway across the world (the $195mil/day on that site is the lowest number I could find). Yeah, someone at the top clearly has his head on straight.
