Chris did it, I’ve gotta do it.

<span style=”font-weight: bold;”>Friend League
Thought this was going to be my best league following the draft, but things haven’t been working out. At 3-5, I’m 4th in points, but 8th overall. When your schedule works against you and you don’t have a stellar team, this is what happens.

QB – E. Manning, Garcia: Drafted Manning, A. Smith, and B. Quinn but Alex has sucked a fatty and Brady isn’t goiung to get a chance with Anderson playing the way he is.
RB – Portis, Jordan, Addai: Portis hasn’t been putting up the numbers I expected, but I can’t complain too much here.
WR – S. Smith, Berrian, Driver, Fitzgerald, R. White: No complaints here either. Roddy White was a great free-agent pick up.
TE – Gonzalez: As good as they get

I have a few floating players (K, Def) and some scrub WRs or TEs. This is an expensive league, but I was never paid out for winning last season so my entry was free. Nothing to lose! How’s that for a gambling mentality?

<span style=”font-weight: bold;”>Car League
5th season for this league that I created, but being in London when things were getting underway, someone else created it. It’s a big league so injuries are very damaging. Luckily, I haven’t had many. I started out 4-1, but have dropped three in a row to settle in to the middle of the pack at 7th, but with the 2nd most points. Again, tough schedule.

QB – Cutler, Campbell: Both letdowns.
RB – Portis, Westbrook, Foster: Meh, expected more.
WR – S. Moss, Holmes, Boldin, J. Jones, Patten: Moss has been a bobo, Holmes is doing just as I had predicted, and Patten was a nice FA grab a couple weeks ago.
TE – Watson, King.

I’ve been holding on to Stover at Kicker and my defense as always, changes each week. This is a free league so I could care less how it ends up.

<span style=”font-weight: bold;”>Former Work League
Had to rub in the fact that they suck Everything has been going right in this league (hence being up 2 games on second place, at 8-0), starting with the random draft. Heck, I haven’t even had an easy schedule; I’ve twice beaten the second place team.

QB – Brady, Hasselback: Enough said.
RB – Edge, Parker, McGahee, Gore: Enough said. It’s a shame I can only play two per week.
WR – Coles, Bowe, Burress, Walter: Bowe and Walter have both been huge FA pickups for me, but this is deifnitely where I feel the weakest.
TE – Gates. Enough said… again.

The next two weeks look like the toughest in terms of my roster with Brady having a bye and having two receivers on bye the following, but then I look at the schedule and I’m playing the two worst teams. 10-0? Here I come. This league is for a little bit of money. Last year I got hosed in the championships after dominating all season… I hope that doesn’t happen again as the Pats will surely be benching Brady as they clinch a playoff birth in Week 11

As always, floating kicker and defense.

Since it’s too late for anyone to actually do anything about it, I’ll share my secret to random drafts. (1) There are only so many QBs that are worth having. If you don’t get one, don’t bother drafting a QB any time early. Read: Exclude any middle-of-the-road or potentially not starting QBs. (2) Kickers and defenses are a dime a dozen and predicting who will be the best is a crap shoot. I excluded ALL kickers and defenses from my draft and instead got Willis McGahee and Edge when other teams were getting their defenses and kickers.

In the other leagues, my drafting was based very much on who did well at the end of last season. I didn’t look at full season stats, but instead just the last five weeks or so. You could argue that I’m not doing all that well in those leagues so my methods are crap, but looking at my point totals would tell you that my record in those leagues are merely products of my schedule.

Halfway through, 15-9… I’ll take it.
