That’s right, the firm of Collins and Collins (Sr has been out of practice for a while) wins again. Went to court this AM to address an expired registration ticket. I was guilty, but from past experiences, I know you can get these thrown out.
I arrived more unkempt than usual since it wasn’t a *real* charge and try to meet the state prosecutor, but he’s busy with attorneys. By the time court rolls around, I sit down in the front row as to not miss a moment of fun that results from an hour of illegal immigrants trying to explain why they were driving without a license and why they can’t get a license (“it’s hard in my situation,” “I don’t have the papers,” “I applied in Florida and moved to Baltimore, but I’m still trying to get it from Florida, but they say I can’t”). After some time, I grow tired of this, but don’t want to miss my name being called. I take a gamble, run out of the room, track down the state prosecutor, show him my ticket, show him my renewed registration, he laughs at my license plate, and dismisses my case. Thank god (lol) that he wasn’t a holy man.
Prepay cost? Something like $65. Go to court cost? $5 for parking, but really I just consider it the price of admission to the show that traffic court is. It’s cheaper than a movie! I highly recommend everyone let their registrations expire ![]()
