Winner of the gamma 256 award, Passage is a simple, tiny game, but it is much more than the sum of its parts.

Before continuing further, play through one time. There are no rules. Play through, look at your score, and note the decisions you made.

If you’ve played, continue reading.

Did you know you didn’t have to walk in to the partner? Did you know she doubles your travel score? Did you know that there are many passages you cannot take once teamed up? Very interesting stuff. How long did it take you to notice you were aging (I think there might be a correlation between noticing this and having a partner)? Did you move vertically much? Did you seek out treasures or only grab ones that were on your way? How far did you make it after your companion passed? Did you ever go back to visit their grave?

As I said, so simple, do deep.

My first play through (and I’ll I have time for now), I walked straight in to the partner. It was as if I didn’t even know there was any other option. It was like it was the right thing to do. Once partnered, I didn’t ever think to myself “Damn, if she  wasn’t with me I could have taken that route.” She died, I continued walking, but then revisited her gravestone and died shortly thereafter. Very interesting… It speaks volumes.
