At the board meeting last night, Webb of course came up.

A few said he didn’t have the guts, which I can’t agree with… the guy has done some serious running before.

A few said he didn’t know how to race, which I can agree with… Or at the very least he wasn’t thinking clearly on Friday. He got boxed in and was hoping to out-kick some of the best kickers ever? Come on, Alan. You’re good, not God.

Some mentioned he needed a new coach… I ran under his current coach in high school… Him and I didn’t get along too well, but it clearly looks like Alan peaked about a year too early so there is definitely something to be said there.

And then there is his lifestyle. Anyone in the world would not do well eating like he does (Anthony Famiglietti is great proof). At the level he’s at, he needs to be surrounding himself with runners of the same caliber, every day. I suppose he does the best he can by closely associating himself with two of my friends from high school, Samia Akbar, and Keira Carlstrom (and whoever else is on the somewhat secret racing team that Raczko has put together), but they’re not capable of pushing him on those daily runs the way a solid training partner can…

My suggestion to get Alan back on track (no pun intended)? Eat better, move to Oregon, or join one of the many elite teams across the US. It all seems pretty no-brainer to me, but then again I’m not the one running in the Olympic Trials…

Hopefully there will be some interviews up soon; I’d rather not pester my friends to find out what his deal is, but I’m very, very curious what he was thinking during that race.
