A few months back, I reported that I would have to wait until tomorrow to get my iPhone. Somehow, I took a look at my account last night and it said I was already eligible. Stoked, I set my sights on the Apple store first thing this morning.

Upon arriving, I’m greeted by Deb. We go through a few steps until she is notified by her little handheld that I have a corporate discount that needed to be removed before we proceeded. I knew of this, and notified her before we started, so it was no surprise. For the record, I applied a 10% discount to my account when I worked with AOL… It was as simple as calling a guy and telling him I was an AOL employee. No verification, no nothing. To this day, I’ve been receiving that discount. I haven’t worked there in years. 3 years x 12 months per year x $4 saved per month = nearly $150 in savings. Not bad, eh?

Anyway, Deb gives me a phone to call AT&T with, I reach someone in support, and 45 minutes later come to the conclusion that this isn’t happening today. Apparently when I got my discount, my plan changed to something under Time Warner Corporate. If you look at my bill or online account, there is no sign of this. In order to remove the discount, I need to get in touch with somebody at AOL to get an ID number or something. How in the hell am I supposed to do that? I explain this to the AT&T person, she sorta seems to get it, and after several long holds, she tells me someone will be in touch in 3-5 business days.

Great. Might it be Blackberry time? At least I’d get to keep my discount!

Chris, if you can look up who the contact is for AOL AT&T discounts, that may help.
