Rather than being like most sheep, Caitlin and I decided to forgo gift giving and instead went on a 10.2 mile scamper through DC. You know, spending time together rather than spending money on each other… It was a hit.
We left our house, made our way through Ballston, on to Custis Trail, on to Mount Vernon Trail, a loop around Theodore Roosevelt Island, across Memorial Bridge, checked out the Lincoln Memorial, then the Korean War Vets Memorial, the Vietnam Vets Memorial (there was a vet there finding the name of his old friends… was pretty sad), over to Einstein, to the White House to see our new friend (we didn’t see him), and finally to the Capitol.
We had planned on seeing the new visitor’s center or hitting the Sackler-Freer (a personal favorite), but we were out of time. We made our way home via Metro, showered up, got dressed, and dined at Willow… I love that place.
