No, I haven’t forgotten to blog about San Fran… or Japan

Caitlin and I made our way up to Landon School in Bethesda this weekend to participate in our first cross country (offroad) race in years. Turned out to be a great time, but the course was HARD. A good number of hills, draining heat, and there was no way it was only 3 miles as advertised; most folks were two minutes off their 5K (3.1 mile) times.

Anyway, I had a decent race. Died a bit at the end, but it seemed like everyone else did too. I led the 2nd pack (that’s how I usually roll… I’m one of the best of the second bests) for two miles, had a guy pace me in the final one, and ended in 6th place. Got a hat out of it! I finished in 20:45, which really can’t be compared against anything other than this race next year [assuming they keep the same course, which they didn’t this year].

Caitlin, on the other hand… Finished in 22:26 and WON HER FIRST RACE AS AN ADULT! She finished more than 30 seconds ahead of the second placed female. She received a hat and $20 gift certificate to a running store for her effort. GO CAITLIN!
