Sunday marked the six week off mark, which my doctor said would have been the maximum needed to heal my damaged hamstrings. Unfortunately, that’s not the case; I still have a bit of pain and they’re ridiculously tight.
While I can tell they’re getting better, I know I still have some time to go… Ungh…
Today I went to get check out for orthotics and the result was rather shocking; I have some of the worst feet he had ever seen on the scanning machine. I land all of my weight not on the ball of my foot or the heel, but instead entirely up the outside edge. He said, obviously, that this is very bad and he’s almost certain it’s the cause of any pain I’ve been having. I opted to go with inserts rather than custom shoes and should have them within a week or so!
The other good news is he wants me to start running again! I’ll go for treatment on Friday, see where we’re at, and then run a mile or two one or two times this weekend! Exciting!
This weekend also marked the one-year anniversary of Caitlin and I getting into this marathon stuff (and her 28th anniversary of being born). I honestly don’t know if they’ve been a good thing or a bad thing… Next one is Steamtown next Fall… Lots of short racing and speedwork before then; haven’t been able to do any in months and months since they aggravated me so much.
