No, not really. Just been busy…
Since November 1st, it goes like this: fundraiser happy hour, birthday bash in DC, Matt Costa show, running club board meeting, two late nights at work, art auction, Skins game, Ben Harper show, coaching exam, whisky tasting fundraiser, full day mountain biking in Maryland, night of meat in DC, two solid weekend days of IT work, 8am every Saturday training runners and myself…
My apartment is a mess, I’m struggling to get my laundry done, I’m not sleeping enough, I’m not eating as well as I’d like to. Time for a maid? I’ve been so beat I actually skipped out on a show I was really looking forward to and had already bought ticket for on Friday night.
Closing out the month, I’m going to start doing some light climbing, run the usual Virginia Run Turkey Trot (no idea what kind of 5k shape I’m in right now… I don’t think a 19:59 or faster is out of the question, which would be wonderful given what I’ve put in, but might be too big a goal so I’ll just go out and do what my body says it can), Thanksgiving, pull some parts off the Civic, and run a lot.
I’ve now been running a fair amount all month (more than double what I had been doing since last September) and the legs take a long time to recover, but I think they’re only improving; walking is less painful with each week, and I’m now capable of running 10 miles are 8-minute pace… Nothing to balk at. I’m contemplating entering the marathon I’m training my trainees for and simply taking it easy/pacing them. I don’t have trainees assigned to me yet, but I have been running with two women whose goal is a 3:40/Boston qualification. I think it’s fairly reasonable to think I could do that with ease as long as my legs hold up the next few months… Would be great to get them to their goal and get a decent effort under my belt as well. Would be a huge confidence boost for me, which I could really use in the running realm.
Today I moved into my first office. I’ve had a few, but they’ve always been shared. This one? All mine. Pretty good view, some glare to deal with, have to now use headphones, but overall I’m pretty pleased. Work on the whole is getting pretty exciting; moving into some new markets as opposed to polishing our already class-leading products.
