Both are available via Netflix streaming.

Oldboy is what I like to call a “mind-f*” film. My favorite type. Fight Club, Memento, and others of that type fall into this category. It’ll leave you wowed. It’s a Korean film so you’ll be reading subtitles, but Heather and I agreed it was very nearly a 5-star.

This Is England had been on my instant queue for a LONG TIME. It had become a title I had grown tired of looking at… So I watched it. I had no idea what it was about going in, and it turned out to be completely different than what I expected, but damn… powerful flick. This is an independent British film so expect to have trouble understand the blokes. I highly covet the 5-star rating and am still contemplating whether or not to grant it. Will let it soak for another day or two. I think if I were English (knew more about their relatively recent history before heading into this)… Hrm, no… Maybe not. I was going to say it would have likely been an easy perfect score, but on the other hand being introduced to the troubles of the nation by this film, maybe that only added to the experience? Either way, highly recommended.
