Yesterday was my birthday. I received 105 (update… 106) birthday wishes not including ones in person, but that’s not what this is about. Yes, I counted. It was a fun game.

My good friend Molly wanted to take me out to lunch. I accepted. It was going to only be the two of us until my coworker and friend, Fahad, came into my office looking hungry. I invited, he accepted, and off we went.

Earlier in the day, Fahad [not knowing it was my birthday, but knowing what Mom was going through] shared that today was his sister’s birthday. She would have been 40. Would have been? Yes. Four years ago she passed away from breast cancer. Ungh. I hate cancer.

We meet Molly, order, sit down, and I ask Molly about her mom’s passing since she’s been in communication with me quite a bit following the news of my mom since she had gone through similar. She had told me before, but the details had slipped my mind. She tells us the story and then shares “Today is her birthday.” Ungh!

Something definitely weird about yesterday, that lunch, the three of us, and chance. Very odd indeed.
