Got my first flat tire on a solo ride EVER on Monday night. I seem to avoid flats better than most for some reason; only two road flats and one mountain flat in the years and years and years I’ve been riding. Sure, many of those years didn’t contain much mileage, but still. As always, I was prepared with a spare tube and tiny pump. Was back on my way in about ten minutes, albeit with a less than ideal tire pressure (my mini pump, which is mini for weight and space savings is a serious bit of work once you get to about 90psi [120 is normal]). I was quite surprised at how quickly the bike rolled on such a low pressure… My 18.2 average on the way out only dropped to 18.1 by the time I reached home. The catalyst for this post, though, was the number of folks who offered me help as I was doing my work on the side of the trail. I’m one of those people, but I didn’t know there were so many “mes” out there. Great stuff. Maybe there is hope for us afterall?

Topic #2: I know I’ve been slacking on posts. Badly. Facebook has just become too useful.

Topic #3: I’ve been getting comment spammed pretty heavily. I went through and removed the massive amount a couple weeks ago and banned IPs, but it seems I got hit again. I’ll work through removing those soon and will likely lockdown commenting even more (required registration?) since it’s only about once a year that I get a new person to say anything not in regards to cialis or viagra.
